Art

On my recent foray back to the motherland, I had the pleasure of observing a variety of art exhibits. On my way out of jolly old England, I was bemused by Heathrow Terminal 3's attempt at airport-art (or some kind of 'exhibit' anyway):

Because nothing says have a nice safe flight! like a bunch of heartless "exterminating" nearly-indestructible alien monsters. Ooops I almost forgot:
Now a technological revolution all-"deleting" monster with a sign suggesting you turn on and use your smart  phone right before you board your plane.

If the concept wasn't bad enough, the implementation was even worse. The first Dalek (2010) was right in the middle of the crowded central seating area of the departure lounge. The second Dalek (1963) was hidden behind the "scent-gauntlet" of perfume & other duty-free shops where hardly anyone could see it. I didn't linger after taking the photos because a breeze brought the choking perfume-haze into the area.  The Cyberman was along the pathway leading to the gates, hidden from view until you have to make the quick 15min march to your gate as soon as it is announced on the departures board (hence the poor quality of that photo).

The second art exhibit I saw was Ai Weiwei: According to What? which was very amusing. I won't spoil it for everyone else so I'll just say this: listen to the whole introductory video, there is one important interesting fact presented which completely changes how you interpret much of the exhibit. I will sum up my thoughts on the exhibit as such:
(The round blob-y thing is supposed to be a globe and the cufflink is supposed to be a child
- I clearly haven't practiced drawing beyond the odd doodle during a boring talk in many years)
